International MSc Program (Non-Thesis Track)
Program Head: Prof. Revital Bookman

Pursuing an international Master of Science program in marine geosciences opens doors to exceptional career opportunities while addressing some of humanity’s most pressing environmental challenges. The oceans cover more than 70% of our planet, yet remain largely unexplored, offering boundless potential for discovery and innovation.
An international marine sciences program provides unparalleled exposure to diverse marine environments. Rather than being limited to studying coastal ecosystems, you’ll gain hands-on experience across deep sea conditions involving marine technology and theoretical understanding of the marine environment.
The interdisciplinary nature of our program is particularly advantageous. It brings together geology, biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering, fostering innovative approaches to complex problems. You’ll have the opportunity to develop expertise in cutting-edge technologies like remote sensing, autonomous underwater vehicles, and advanced computational modeling—skills highly sought after by employers in research, industry, and conservation.
Beyond scientific knowledge, international programs cultivate cultural competence and adaptability—qualities essential in today’s globalized workforce. Learning to communicate across cultural boundaries while tackling shared environmental challenges prepares you for leadership roles in international organizations.
For those passionate about understanding our blue planet and contributing to its sustainable future, an international MSc in marine geosciences represents not just an educational opportunity but a pathway to becoming part of the solution to some of humanity’s most significant challenges.
The program is designed for managers, public officials, education professionals, and professionals who wish to expand their knowledge in the marine sciences field.
In the public sector – government ministries, military, local authorities, education professionals
In the private sector and industry
In the non-profit sector – organizations specializing in energy, marine agriculture, sustainability, blue economy, data collection and processing, and technological innovation.
The studies will prepare students for positions requiring deep knowledge in marine sciences
The program lasts one calendar year and is adapted for working professionals. The learning format includes frontal teaching, laboratory work in small groups, voyages, and field trips.
This program is the only one in Israel offering a Master of Science (MSc) degree in the marine field, combining entrepreneurship courses and the use of practical tools.

The program consists of 36 annual credits, 14 mandatory and the rest elective. Elective courses within and outside the program at the School of Marine Sciences are adapted for master’s level studies.
The program does not require a final project submission and is based solely on course credits.
Students can continue to a second year of research degree (with scholarship) after finding a supervisor from the School of Marine Sciences and submitting a research proposal.
Introductory and supplementary online courses at the undergraduate level in marine sciences and marine geology are offered.
