Charney School Representatives on the Global Scientific Stage:
Insights from EGU2025
Researchers and students from the School of Marine Sciences recently participated in the annual European Geosciences Union (EGU) conference held in Vienna, Austria.
Researchers from the Department of Marine Geosciences, Dr. Yoav Lehahn, Prof. Regina Katsman, Prof. Michael Lazar, and Prof. Revital Bookman, presented their work at this prestigious international gathering.
Alongside senior researchers, several outstanding students and postdoctoral fellows represented our institution:
- Dr. Yaroslav Trubin, postdoctoral fellow, who presented a fascinating study on the power of microfossils to reconstruct environmental changes from around 40 million years ago.
- Aleksei Nelaev, M.Sc. student, who explored tectonic deformation processes on the Mediterranean seafloor.
- Xiongjie Zhou, Ph.D. candidate, who introduced a dynamic model of earthquakes triggered by dams and water reservoirs.
Their presentations attracted significant interest and sparked meaningful scientific discussions, highlighting the School of Marine Sciences’ contribution to international research in marine and earth sciences.
