“As a biology teacher, I’m required to integrate various areas of biological knowledge with teaching research skills. My studies at the Charney School of Marine Sciences in Haifa contributed to these aspects and more: I significantly expanded my knowledge and understanding of ecology and marine environmental sciences. I learned about fascinating topics such as marine ecosystems, marine animals, ocean pollution, and more. This knowledge now allows me to teach my students in a more in-depth and diverse way.
I acquired research skills and data analysis abilities that help me, as a teacher, to foster scientific, critical, and creative thinking in my students. I learned and practiced innovative teaching methods, including outdoor teaching, incorporating labs, and organizing various field trips. These skills greatly enhance the quality of my teaching today.
My studies at the Charney School of Marine Sciences provided an exceptional experience, both academically and personally. I gained extensive, in-depth knowledge and understanding of a variety of marine topics—from oceanography and marine biology to earth sciences. The pinnacle of this academic journey was expressed in professional and thrilling open-sea research, where we directly explored and experienced the dynamics of marine ecology in the field.
What made this experience truly exceptional was the personal attention and support I received from the faculty. I felt that I was part of a meaningful learning journey not only for myself but for the entire team. This period of study broadened my horizons, deepened my understanding, and left a significant mark on shaping my inner world and my overall perception of the marine environment.”
