Marine Technologies Conference (MTC) 2025 – A New Tradition Begins

Last week, we launched the first Marine Technologies Conference (MTC), initiated and led by Prof. Itzik Klein, Head of the Hatter Department of Marine Technologies.
The conference brought together researchers, students, industry professionals, and ocean enthusiasts for a full day of lectures, research presentations, and discussions around a central question:
How can technology help us better understand and protect the ocean?

Throughout the day, participants explored groundbreaking research in areas such as:

  • Acoustic monitoring of marine mammals and sperm whale communication
  • Autonomous underwater robotics and AI-based navigation
  • Reducing underwater noise pollution from shipping
  • Advanced optical solutions for underwater imaging
  • Smart technologies for marine sustainability and climate resilience

Attendees enjoyed engaging talks, live technology demonstrations, scientific posters, and meaningful exchanges between early-career and senior researchers.

The conference showcased the richness and potential of marine technologies – from whale communication to swarm robotics, from underwater color reconstruction to floating solutions for coastal cities.

This marks the beginning of a new tradition, and we’re already looking forward to the next MTC!
