A Moving Gathering of the School of Marine Sciences Community
This week we held a special event that brought together our entire community – researchers, students and interested visitors gathered for an experiential and connecting meeting.
It was moving to see the fruitful connections formed between all members of our school community, who share a common vision for creating change through the sea.
The highlight of the evening was Prof. Iain Couzin’s fascinating lecture on his groundbreaking research in collective animal behavior analysis. The research offered fascinating insights into behavioral principles across ecological systems based on observations and models. The amazing lecture bridged different content worlds, was full of humor and excited the students and researchers, as evidenced by the number of questions the speaker received at the end. Prof. Iain Couzin collaborates with Dr. Oren Gal from the Department of Marine Technologies.
Many thanks to Prof. Revital Bookmann, Head of the Department of Marine Geosciences, who took the reins and masterfully led the event, and to all department heads who took active part: Prof. Smadar Ben-Tabou de-Leon from the Department of Marine Biology, Prof. Itzik Makovsky from the Department of Marine Technologies, Dr. Danny Morick from the Department of Blue Biotechnologies and Sustainable Mariculture, and Prof. Ami Pedahzur from the Marine Strategy Program.
Events like these strengthen our research community and promote productive collaboration between the different departments and laboratories.
Looking forward to our next gathering!
