Exciting Kickoff Event: Launching the Alumni Community of the Blue Economy Pre-Acceleration Program

Last week, we held the inaugural meeting of the alumni community for the Blue Economy Pre-Acceleration Program—a collaborative initiative between the Charney School of Marine Sciences and the Haifa Innovation Labs at the University of Haifa.

The goal of the event was to strengthen connections with the young entrepreneurs and provide them with the tools, support, and knowledge needed to fully develop their ventures.

The meeting featured a wealth of professional content and practical tools for entrepreneurs:

  • Sharon Liper, Head of Administration at the Charney School and Community Leader, provided a comprehensive overview of the program’s first three cycles, highlighting the ventures that emerged, the significance of the
  • Dr. Roya Israeli, Intellectual Property Adjudicator at the Israeli Patent Office, shared essential insights on patents, trade secrets, trademarks, and registered designs.
  • Dr. Einat Magal, Deputy Chief Scientist for Innovation at the Ministry of Innovation, Science & Technology, presented a variety of programs and grants offered by the Israel Innovation Authority to support young entrepreneurs.
  • The team from the Morris Kahn Marine Research Station introduced the station’s BlueTech activities:
    Dr. Yaron Bogin, Head of Blue Technologies and Sustainable Agriculture and leading figure in BlueTech at the school, shared the school’s vision for the future of BlueTech.
    Dr. Ziv Zemah-Shamir, Long-Term Ecological Research Manager, discussed the importance and potential of marine monitoring in BlueTech work.
  • Prof. Dan Tchernov, Head of the Charney School, welcomed the participants and shared the school’s vision for the Blue Economy sector.

This is just the beginning, and we’re already excited for future meetings that will continue to foster a vibrant and thriving community.
