Dr. Alena Lövy

Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Marine Biology
Researcher at the Biological Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences
“My postdoctoral fellowship at the Leon H. Charney School of Marine Sciences at the University of Haifa allowed me to investigate cnidarian developmental and evolutionary biology in Dr. Tamar Lotan’s laboratory, with a focus on sensory organ evolution and Notch signalling. During this time, I gained hands-on expertise in cnidarian culturing, gene expression analyses, and immunohistochemistry, as well as advanced molecular and histological techniques. The interdisciplinary and international research environment fostered both scientific growth and lasting professional relationships, making my time at the University of Haifa both scientifically and personally enriching. This experience strongly shaped my subsequent research on the evolution and function of the Notch signalling pathway in myxozoan parasites.”
