break-words\">The curriculum provides an advanced and comprehensive toolbox including a deep understanding of marine biotechnology, aquaculture, marine ecology, and environmental sustainability. In the department, you will study the genetic and biochemical diversity of marine organisms, develop sea-based biotechnological products, and learn technologies for utilizing algae and marine microorganisms. In the field of sustainable marine agriculture, you will learn advanced methods for fish, shellfish, and algae cultivation, and management of integrated aquaculture systems. Additionally, you will engage with marine ecology and sustainability, including the impacts of climate change and conservation of marine habitats, as well as advanced marine technologies such as robotics, sensors, and bioinformatics.<\/p><p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words\">The department is equipped with modern laboratories and research facilities supporting a wide range of projects, and allows for deepening essential skills such as advanced research methods, data analysis, and development of green technologies.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-tab-title elementor-tab-mobile-title\" aria-selected=\"false\" data-tab=\"2\" role=\"tab\" tabindex=\"-1\" aria-controls=\"elementor-tab-content-1872\" aria-expanded=\"false\">The Study Program<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-content-1872\" class=\"elementor-tab-content elementor-clearfix\" data-tab=\"2\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-1872\" tabindex=\"0\" hidden=\"hidden\"><p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words\">The studies are conducted in Track A only, which includes writing a research thesis.<\/p><p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words\">The curriculum includes 36 credit hours, of which 28 credit hours are mandatory and elective courses, including mandatory participation in the educational cruise and departmental seminars.<\/p><p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words\">The selection of elective courses will be made with the approval of the research thesis advisor and the Chair of the Departmental Committee for Graduate Studies.<\/p><p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words\">Some of the department&#8217;s courses (including mandatory courses) may be given in English.<\/p><p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words\">The studies in the department are spread over two academic years (not including prerequisite courses). Most of the mandatory courses will take place during the first year of study and will be concentrated as much as possible on two study days per week.<\/p><p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words\">Graduates of the program will be eligible for a University Master&#8217;s degree in Blue Biotechnologies and Sustainable Mariculture (M.Sc.).<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-tab-title elementor-tab-mobile-title\" aria-selected=\"false\" data-tab=\"3\" role=\"tab\" tabindex=\"-1\" aria-controls=\"elementor-tab-content-1873\" aria-expanded=\"false\">Terms of acceptance<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-content-1873\" class=\"elementor-tab-content elementor-clearfix\" data-tab=\"3\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-1873\" tabindex=\"0\" hidden=\"hidden\"><p data-sourcepos=\"5:1-5:27\"><strong>Admission Requirements:<\/strong><\/p><ul data-sourcepos=\"7:1-12:347\"><li data-sourcepos=\"7:1-7:235\"><strong>Bachelor&#8217;s Degree:<\/strong> A B.Sc. in Biology, Marine Sciences, Agricultural Engineering, or a related field from a recognized academic institution, either domestic or international. (Completion of supplementary courses may be required.)<\/li><li data-sourcepos=\"8:1-8:84\"><strong>Academic Record:<\/strong> A cumulative GPA of 85 or above in all undergraduate courses.<\/li><li data-sourcepos=\"9:1-9:171\"><strong>Application Materials:<\/strong> A CV in English detailing work and professional experience, <a href=\"https:\/\/marsci.haifa.ac.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/\u05d4\u05e1\u05d1\u05e8-\u05e2\u05dc-\u05ea\u05e0\u05d0\u05d9-\u05e7\u05d1\u05dc\u05d4.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a statement of purpose in English<\/a>, official transcripts, and a degree certificate.<\/li><li data-sourcepos=\"10:1-10:71\"><strong>Interview:<\/strong> A suitable candidate will be invited for an interview.<\/li><li data-sourcepos=\"11:1-11:312\"><strong>Thesis Supervisor:<\/strong> During the first semester, students must identify a potential supervisor (faculty member) and agree on a research topic. The supervisor&#8217;s confirmation of willingness to guide the student&#8217;s thesis by the end of the first semester is a prerequisite for continued enrollment in the program.<\/li><li data-sourcepos=\"12:1-12:347\"><strong>Conditional Admission:<\/strong> Applicants with undergraduate degrees in other fields or with missing prerequisites may be admitted conditionally, subject to the approval of the Graduate Studies Committee. They must complete the required coursework by the end of the first year. The committee will determine the specific courses required based on the applicant&#8217;s academic background and research needs. A cumulative GPA of 85 or above in the supplemental coursework is required for continued enrollment.<\/li><li data-sourcepos=\"13:1-14:0\"><strong>GRE Requirement:<\/strong> Applicants from accredited foreign universities or Israeli branches of foreign universities must successfully complete the GRE exam.
