About
Dr. Tal Luzzatto Knaan is the head of the Functional Metabolomics Lab at the University of Haifa. She integrates advanced metabolomics, transcriptomics, and genomics approaches to explore the biological role, regulation, and diversity of natural products in marine microbes and algae. Her research focuses on developing metabolomics-based approaches to study microbial chemical communication and exploring marine chemical diversity for potential applications.
Dr. Luzzatto Knaan completed her PhD in Biochemistry at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. As a Vaadia-BARD postdoctoral fellow at the University of California, San Diego, and a felloship in the Department of Marine Biology at the University of Haifa
In 2019, she established an independent laboratory investigating spatial and temporal patterns of small molecules in marine biological systems. The lab combines characterization of chemical space with mapping biosynthesis and regulation of specific molecules. Dr. Luzzatto Knaan leads the emerging Interdisciplinary Center for Metabolomics and Natural Products at the University of Haifa
