About▼

Prof. Revital Bookman is a marine and lacustrine geologist, specializing in sedimentology, geohazards, and long-term environmental change. Her research spans the Eastern Mediterranean, the Dead Sea Basin, and the Gulf of Aqaba. She investigates seafloor and lake processes, including the formation and distribution of sub-marine landslides and turbidites to understand sediment transport dynamics, slope stability, and the geological record of earthquakes and other extreme events. Prof. Bookman also studies past climate variability and hydrological change recorded in marine and lacustrine sediments, contributing valuable insights into the regional impacts of climate change. Her work further addresses environmental pollution, examining how contaminants are archived in sedimentary records and what they reveal about human influence on aquatic systems. She integrates seafloor mapping, sediment core analysis, and advanced geophysical techniques to reconstruct Earth-surface processes and assess environmental and geohazard risks.
