The department of Maritime Civilizations integrates different disciplines in an attempt to achieve a better understanding of the sea: its past physical and cultural development; its present conditions, both in deep seas and along the shallow shelf; and its potential future. Graduate studies in the Department of Maritime Civilizations are oriented towards students with a variety of backgrounds, ranging from Humanities to Earth and Life Sciences. Special emphasis is paid to field-based research, providing students with a hands-on sea experience. These programs are taught in Hebrew.
