Seismic Interpretation Lab (SeisLab)

SeisLab was officially established in 2012. The lab has a suite of 12 high-specification double-screen workstations configured for 2D and 3D seismic interpretation. Our vast seismic and well database serves projects dealing with seafloor stability, multi-scale gas and fluid related structures, seismic stratigraphy, neo-tectonics and tsunami modelling. SeisLab is supported by industrial sponsors and collaborates with a wide scope of academic institutes worldwide.

SeisLab vision is to:

  • Provide research students with the necessary skills to succeed in both the academic and private sectors.
  •  Develop novel techniques for understanding geological basins using 2D and 3D subsurface reflection datasets.
  • Present novel insights into deformational and depositional processes occurring in sedimentary basins.
  • Expand knowledge of the potential of seismic interpretation and visualization for both research and education.
  • Lead regional and global academic research in seismic interpretation, visualization and modeling.
